1912 Lg. Color Lithograph of the Titanic Sinking 1912 Large Color Lithograph of the Sinking of the T
1912 Large Color Lithograph of the Sinking of the Titanic entitled (in dubious English) "The Last Tragical moment Ocean liner Titanic" with a caption that reads, in part: "Largest Steamer in the world. Sunk by iceberg on maiden trip of Halifax, April 15, 1912; 1,600 peoples drowned..." This was published by E. Giovine & Co. of 23 Duane St., Door 612, N.Y. and is also notated "Tipo-Litografia R. Sala." The image is bright and graphic showing the iceberg, the burning ship, a few wooden lifeboats and people everywhere in panic mode- in the water, in the boats, jumping off the ship, etc. In the upper left corner is a round inset portrait image of Capt. Smith. This obviously originated in Europe- probably Spain or Italy and was quickly (and poorly) translated for issue in the United States to take advantage of the public demand for items related to this terrible tragedy. Generally fine condition with a few barely-noticeable small flaws repaired on the verso and one corner crinkle not affecting the image that could be matted out, 22" x 16.75". A rare and very displayable period Titanic print.
