1912<25C> PR67 NGC. The Philadelphia Mint saw an emission of 700 proofs in this waning year of the Barber design. Design change was in the air: The long-running Indian cent had been supplanted by Lincoln cents three years earlier, and this would be the last year for the Liberty nickel design. This example offers mottled amber-russet toning on each side, complemented by iridescent blue, that alternates with near-untoned areas of extensive brilliance. There is some field-device contrast, if insufficient for a Cameo designation. Census: 9 in 67, 5 finer (9/06).
