1912 $20 MS65 PCGS. The 1912 double eagle is a scarce date, and a condition rarity in Gem or finer quality, as indicated by the current PCGS population data. This example, like most, is sharply struck with essentially full obverse and reverse details. The surfaces are brilliant with frosty yellow-gold luster, and both sides are essentially mark-free. Attractive pink overtones add to its aesthetic appeal.
When New Mexico and Arizona joined the United States early in 1912, new obverse dies were prepared with two additional stars along the border, bringing the star count up to 48. This is technically a new design type, and 1912 represents the first year of issue. Population: 25 in 65, 5 finer (6/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
