1912<$20> MS64 PCGS. From this year onward, the Saint-Gaudens twenty design has 48 stars around the obverse rim; Mint Engraver Charles E. Barber added two stars to the lower right to commemorate statehood for New Mexico and Arizona. Like most other P-mint issues in the early Saint-Gaudens series, the 1912, with a mintage approaching 150,000 pieces, is difficult to locate in the finer Mint State grades, most being poorly struck or heavily bagmarked. The present lustrous example is a happy exception, being both well struck and free of singularly mentionable marks. The reverse die is rotated about 25 degrees clockwise.
