1912 1C PR64 Red NGC. Lange (1996) suggests that, due to this date's overall rarity, the Mint may have melted a number of the 2,145 proof Lincoln Cents produced in 1912 when they failed to sell by year's end. The matte texture seen on this coin is typically more pronounced than that seen on most extant 1910 and 1911 proofs of this type. Both sides are lustrous with a pink-red sheen and fully brought up devices. In as much as the finish is a little more satiny on the reverse than on the obverse, it would appear that the former die was a later state at the time of striking. Solidly graded, and virtually distraction-free. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
