<B>1911-S $20 MS66 NGC.</B></I> Garrett and Guth (2006) comment on this issue's strong visual appeal: "Sharp, lustrous coins are the rule for this year and mint, and this date is available up to and including grades of MS65." While the 1911-S has a high rate of preservation and a mintage of over three-quarters of a million pieces, coins that are better than Gem remain conditionally elusive. The present Premium Gem exceeds expectations for this issue, with spectacular luster, bold detail, and vibrant yellow-gold surfaces that show ethereal traces of orange. Aside from a single small mark below the knee, the surfaces are practically flawless.
