1911 Philadelphia Athletics Photographic Display from the Frank "Home Run" Baker Collection. This thrilling display dates from the very season in which Frank Baker earned his "Home Run" moniker for clubbing key long balls in Games Two and Three of that year's World Series. The Championship team is pictured at center, with a nattily-dressed Connie Mack surrounded by his greatest Dead Ball squad. A photo of Hall of Fame pitcher Chief Bender is matted to the left, with Baker himself balancing the display on the right. Block lettered text below reads, "Philadelphia Athletics, World's Champion Base Ball Team 1911." The team photograph measures 6x9", with the individual shots at 4.5x6", with each offering such supreme contrast and clarity that one can see the ribbing of the players' socks and individual blades of grass. Short of some minor edge wear and a single wrinkle that does not affect any of the photographs, the piece remains in spectacular condition, and could easily be framed to exceed even an EX-MT appearance. Once the proud possession of Home Run Baker himself, this piece will be accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Baker's granddaughter.
