1911 Indian Cent Obverse Electrotrial, Pollock-5150, Un
1911 Indian Cent Obverse Electrotrial, Pollock-5150, Unique, MS63 PCGS. The holder is incorrectly labeled as "P-5050," a non-existent number. The obverse has an Indian Head facing right, the design used two years later for the obverse of the Buffalo nickel, with the 1911 date below the chin. The reverse is blank. Following the procedure for production of electrotypes, the copper shell with the Indian design was created from a wax impression, then the shell was filled with lead or some similar "white metal." Lead is the material of choice due to its low melting point and ease of use. This was James Earle Fraser's design that was originally intended for a one-cent coin.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
