1911 Dated Erfurt Arsenal Model 1908 Military Contract Luger Pistol Rig

This is an example of an early Erfurt Arsenal Model 1908 Military contract Luger pistol rig. The chamber area is stamped 1911, for the year of manufacture with the standard "Crown/Erfurt" markings on the front toggle. These early Erfurt Lugers have the better, higher polished blue finish and nice straw colored small parts. The right side of the barrel extension has the three standard "Crown/Script" letter proofs next to the Imperial Eagle firing proof. It has the military style numbers with the full serial number on the major parts with the remaining small parts stamped with only the last two digits "46" of the serial number. This example has had the later hold-open device added. The various parts are correctly stamped with the "Crown/script letter" proof and/or the "Crown/RC" Erfurt inspector proofs. As noted this early luger has two matching magazines with the nickel plated magazine bodies with the wooden bases that are both arsenal renumbered: "746/Crown/D" proof. It is complete with an early brown leather holster that is stamped the inside "HOHANN.& SOHN/KAISERSLAUTERN/11".

Very fine with 90% of the arsenal blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear with some minor spotting on the back strap. The various small parts retain 70% of their straw colors. The grips are also in very fine condition with a nice matching dark brown color on both, with nice distinct checkering with some minor nicks in the checkering on both sides. The holster is in fine condition with nice matching color, with tight stitching with minor scratches on the front and top flap of the holster. The lower front area and magazine pouch show some minor finish loss.
