1911-D $5 MS63 PCGS. The 1911-D, with a mintage of 72,500 business strikes, is one of the great rarities of the Indian Head half eagle series, and very difficult to locate in Mint State grades. In MS63, the level of preservation of the piece in this lot, PCGS and NGC data indicate fewer than 40 examples, and less than 30 coins finer. Highly lustrous surfaces display pretty orange-gold patina interspersed with subtle mint-green. Excellent definition is apparent on the design elements, with just a hint of the typical softness on the eagle's shoulder. The few inoffensive marks scattered about just barely preclude the achievement of a higher grade. All in all, an extremely nice example of this difficult issue.
From The Dr. Eugene Cherny Collection of $5 and $10 Indians.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)

Important
