<B>1911-D $20 MS67 NGC.</B></I> The 1911-D is one of the most available dates in the Saint-Gaudens double eagle series. More than 5,000 coins have been certified in Mint State grades by NGC. At the Superb Gem level, however, only 27 examples are known (with none higher), some of which may be resubmissions. As one might expect, a Superb Gem example of the 1911-D twenty, such as this, is seldom offered at auction. The striking details are uniformly strong throughout. The matte-like finish that is always seen on '11-D twenties is seen here with an overlay of soft, frosted mint luster. There also are no mentionable or noticeable abrasions on this large-size gold coin. Struck with the normal (not doubled) mintmark.
