1911-D $2 1/2 MS63 PCGS. The 1911-D is the number one item on the want lists of most Indian quarter eagle collectors, and few manage to eventually secure an unchallenged Mint State example. The present piece has seamless satin luster, and the devices and fields are nearly devoid of detectable marks. Unlike that seen on many examples, the mintmark is razor-sharp, and obvious to the unaided eye. This is a completely problem-free piece with consistent light peach-gold toning, and it would be the centerpiece of an advanced (and complete) collection of the popular series. Purchased in the 1930's at face value by Karl Stecher Sr. from coins turned in by the public as per President Roosevelt's March 9, 1933 directive. Included is a simple kraft envelope that records the condition as "Unc."
From The Stecher Collection.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
