1911-D $2 1/2 MS63 NGC. The combination of a bold strike, frosty yellow-gold luster, and pristine surfaces makes this example a highly desirable specimen of the elusive 1911-D Indian quarter eagle, considered the key to a complete set of these coins. This example has a bold mintmark, an important consideration when selecting an example.
The rarity of this issue is easily explained by the low mintage of just 55,680 coins, combined with the immediate release of these pieces into circulation. Few were saved by contemporary collectors.
A relatively high population, when compared to the mintage, is explained by the rarity of the date. In any series, higher values translate to higher submissions to the grading services. More importantly, higher values mean substantially higher resubmissions of coins that have already been certified.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
