<B>1911-D $2 1/2 MS62 PCGS.</B></I> This piece is sharply struck with excellent obverse and reverse design definition, including a bold mintmark. The satiny yellow-gold surfaces reveal no significant blemishes on either side, just a few light abrasions that are consistent with the grade. The overall visual appeal is strong.<BR> A proverb declares that "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery," and the many counterfeits and alterations that once swirled around the 1911-D quarter eagle were an ironic testament to its desirability. Third-party grading has eliminated much of the guesswork involved in determining authenticity, however, and this PCGS-graded piece offers assured originality.
