1911-D $2 1/2 MS62 PCGS. The Denver Mint made its first quarter eagles in 1911, the same year that it struck its first cents. While the facility churned out more than 12 million of the bronze pieces that year, it struck just 55,600 of the gold coins, which created a key issue that remains popular to this day.
The surfaces of this pleasing piece are predominantly yellow-gold with a touch of wheat color on the obverse and orange overtones on the reverse. The well-defined devices are primarily mark-free, though the reverse fields display a handful of abrasions, including one that extends from the back of the eagle's neck to the I in IN. This desirable example displays beautifully and would fit well in a date set with similarly graded pieces.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
