1911-D $2 1/2 MS62 PCGS. While many 1911-D quarter eagles show a weak mintmark, that does not appear to be the case here. We say "appears" since only the upper right curve of the D is visible. The rest of the mintmark is obscured by the plastic lip of the PCGS encasement. However, two other diagnostics of genuine '11-D quarter eagles are visible: the thin wire rim on the right side of the obverse, and the tiny patch of die polish on the left part of the fasces on the reverse. Another frequently seen element that is also present on this coin is the unusual bright combination of granular texture and frosted mint luster. Well, but not fully struck with only slight softness noted on the bottom feather of the headdress and the top of the eagle's wing. The color is a pleasing overall reddish-brown with the usually seen slight brownish tint. There are no notable or reportable abrasions, which is notable itself considering the abrasions one normally expects on an MS62 Indian quarter eagle. The '11-D quarter eagle is a coin of enduring popularity as it is the key to this widely collected series.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
