1911-D $2 1/2 MS62 NGC. A back-handed compliment to the rarity and popularity of the 1911-D quarter eagle is to note how many altered and counterfeit examples exist of this issue. At least two different die struck counterfeit issues are known, in addition to many P-mints with added mintmarks. The diagnostics of genuine '11-D quarter eagles are widely known, and today with third-party encapsulation fears of purchasing a non-authentic piece are virtually nil.
This is a well struck coin that has even reddish patina over each side. The mintmark is sharp, and the only marks worthy of mention are a pair of vertical abrasions on the reverse on each side of the eagle's head. Lovely, satiny mint luster.

Coin Engraver: Bela Lyon Pratt

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
