1911-D $2 1/2 MS62 NGC. This key-date representative exhibits bright brass-gold, lustrous surfaces. An impressive strike is manifested in strong definition on the Indian's face, in most of the hair at the temple, on the feathers of the bonnet, and in the eagle's plumage, though the shoulder feathers are soft, as is the mintmark. Light handling marks on the cheek and in the upper reverse field help to determine the grade. The 1911-D becomes more difficult to acquire in the higher levels of Mint State. According to Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth (2006), relatively few pieces of the 55,680-piece mintage were saved at the time of issue.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
