1911-D $2 1/2 MS62 NGC. A lustrous and smooth almond-g 1911-D
1911-D<$2 1/2> MS62 NGC. A lustrous and smooth almond-gold key date quarter eagle. The mintmark is bold, and the strike is sharp aside from small portions of the lowest headdress feather. No mentionable marks are present. The 1911-D has by far the lowest mintage of the type; the second place 1914 has a production more than four times larger. The Indian quarter eagle is among the few pre-1933 U.S. gold series that can be affordably completed by date and mintmark; this places great collector demand on the 1911-D. Certified in an older generation NGC holder.Ex: Sal Westerman Collection (Heritage, 11/00), lot 7075.
