1911-D $2 1/2 MS61 NGC. The 1911-D quarter eagle, with a mintage of 55,680 pieces, is the key to the series. Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth, in their Encyclopedia of U.S. Gold Coins, 1795-1933, write of this date: "It boasts not only the lowest mintage (by far), but few examples were saved at the time of issue."
Bright brassy-gold lustrous surfaces stand out on this MS61 specimen, as does an impressive strike that imparts good definition to the design elements, including near-full detail on the eagle's shoulder. A handful of minute contact marks are noted in the raised, exposed fields. All in all, quite a pleasing coin for the grade designation.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
