<B>1911-D $2 1/2 AU58 NGC.</B></I> Columnist Paul Green, writing in the September 17, 1996 <I>Numismatic News</B></I>, says: "... even with heavy melting in 1933, supplies of all dates from the Indian Head quarter eagle series are ample with the exception of one." The one is, of course, the key-date 1911-D. We present in this lot an AU58 example of this issue. Its bright peach-gold surfaces retain considerable luster, and the design elements are well defined; the mintmark is sharper than usually seen on the issue.
