<B>1911-D $2 1/2 AU58 NGC.</B></I> The 1911-D Indian Head quarter eagle, half eagle, and eagle are all key coins within their respective series, and yet the Saint-Gaudens 1911-D double eagle is a fairly common issue with a considerable mintage. It is a puzzlement to the present cataloger why this should be so, but the best explanation appears to be that there was simply little <I>need </B></I>for the smaller denominations after several years of abundant emissions.
