1911-D $10 MS63 PCGS. Production of eagles at the Denv 1911-D
1911-D<$10> MS63 PCGS. Production of eagles at the Denver Mint in 1911 amounted to a stingy 30,100--the lowest in the 26-year series. Examples of the 1911-D are challenging and elusive in any grade, as witness the population data at NGC and PCGS. Both services combined have certified a total of 27 pieces in MS63, with 29 finer (6/06). This delectable and collectible specimen offers satiny surfaces, peach-gold on the reverse and honey-gold on the obverse. Scrutiny with a glass reveals a couple of undistracting abrasions on Liberty's cheek and chin that probably account for the grade, but that are nonetheless unbothersome. Otherwise the coin appears distraction-free and conservatively graded.
