1911-D $10 MS62 PCGS. Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth observe of the 1911-D eagle in their Encyclopedia of U.S. Gold Coins: "This is the undisputed condition rarity to the entire series; it is difficult to locate in all grades and especially so in MS65." Besides claiming the lowest mintage of the entire series, the 1911-D apparently was not an issue that was saved in any quantity as the survivor rate is observably low. Because of the financial incentive to maximize the grade of this scarce date, some examples are submitted for grading many times and, therefore, the NGC Census Report and the PCGS Population Report are artificially high. Taking that into consideration, PCGS has recorded 44 examples in MS62 with only 36 finer (4/07). This is a sharply struck coin that has satiny mint luster. Obviously from the grade, there are a few small abrasions on each side, but none are worthy of singular mention.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
