1911 $5 MS65 NGC. This pleasing honey-gold Gem has vibrant luster and unmarked surfaces. The strike is assertive, and the eye appeal is undeniable. Few collectors concentrated on 20th century gold coins until the 1940s. A 1911 half eagle, with a mintage of more than 900,000 pieces, was valued strictly for its bullion content for many years. Pieces were loosely stored, and many participated in Roosevelt's gold recall. The 1911 is seen in Mint State, but usually in MS61 to MS63 grades. NGC and PCGS have each certified only a single example finer. Census: 36 in 65, 1 finer (10/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
