1911 $20 MS66 PCGS. The 1911 double eagle, like other Philadelphia-Mint issues from this period, is very scarce in MS65 grades or finer. The higher availability of lower Mint State coins is due to the discovery of a large hoard that is cited by David Akers (1998): "In recent years, a substantial number of decent quality Mint State specimens have appeared on the market from one large hoard, but most of them are only Choice Uncirculated or lower grade specimens."
This Premium Gem example displays bright peach-gold color on highly lustrous surfaces that are somewhat granular, as is typical for the issue. A sharp strike characterizes the design elements, including bold definition on the Capitol building and Liberty's face, hands, and foot. Population: 10 in 66, 0 finer (11/06).
From The Kutasi Collection.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
