1911 $20 MS64 NGC. Despite a limited original mintage of 197,350 pieces, the 1911 is not widely recognized as a condition rarity. It shares this distinction with the 1908 Motto, 1909, 1912, 1913, 1914, and 1915. This is a typically well struck coin for the date with no areas of bothersome incompleteness of detail. The luster is full and richly frosted, and modest cartwheel effects swirl around orange-gold features. A very faint planchet streak (as struck) is well concealed in the eagle's wing feathers. Mint State survivors of this issue are infrequently offered above the MS63 grade level. From the Collection of Colonel Carmine Penta.
