1911 1C MS67 Red PCGS. The 1911 Lincoln cent from the Philadelphia Mint, with a mintage exceeding 100 million pieces, is readily available in all grades. David Lange, in his 2005 treatise The Complete Guide to Lincoln Cents, writes of this issue: "... uncirculated coins of this date are more likely than previous P-mint cents to have unattractive toning or spotting. If original rolls exist, they may reflect this slightly lower quality. When gems are found, however, they more often than not have outstanding luster."
The MS67 Red example presented in this lot does indeed display outstanding luster, that seems to jump out at the observer. Exquisitely defined design elements complement this attribute, as do the immaculately preserved copper-orange surfaces. In sum, this piece looks as it did when it first came off of the press. Population: 7 in 67 Red, 1 finer (8/07).

Coin Engraver: Victor D.
