1910-S<$5> MS64 NGC. The 1910-S compares favorably to the 1909-S in terms of striking characteristics. This is a sharply impressed coin with lovely copper-gold patina. The texture is softly frosted, the mintmark is well defined, and the only mentionable abrasions are several tiny reeding marks in the reverse field behind the eagle's head.
The San Francisco Mint delivered 770,200 half eagles in 1910, a respectable total for the Indian series. Nonetheless, this issue is rare in all Mint State grades, and nearly all Uncirculated survivors are confined to the MS60-63 grade levels. No more than 8-10 coins are believed extant at or above the MS65 level. Census: 11 in 64, 2 finer (7/06).
