1910-S 1C MS67 Red PCGS. A shimmering, well frost
1910-S<1C> MS67 Red PCGS. A shimmering, well frosted example with impeccable golden-tan surfaces and an occasional dash of pale orange patina. It doesn't appear that the novelty of the new Lincoln Cent design had worn off by 1910 in the Western regions of the country, or perhaps collectors were already aware of the low mintage variety from the preceding year. In any case, thousands of 1910-S Lincoln Cents were held back from circulation and can be obtained today in Mint State without too much difficulty considering the rather brief mintage of just over 6 million pieces. Despite its relative availability in Uncirculated condition, the number of survivors that surpass the Gem level dwindles to only a few dozen pieces. Taking it one step further, only this extraordinary representative and two others have been nice enough to attain Superb Gem Red status and NGC and PCGS combined. A must-have 1910-S Lincoln for the advanced Lincoln Cent collection. Population: 2 in 67, 0 finer (6/05).
From The William Bickel Collection, Part One.
