1910s Mike Morales Double Bit (1888-1934), Loose shank 4.5'', curb bit, chain chin strap, chain rein guards, overlay on shanks, low port mouth, belt buckle design, stamped with an M on inside shank, Miguel Morales ''I have worked in the best bit and spur shops in California and Nevada and can make anything from a spur rowel to the silver mountings for a saddle. My bits and spurs are made by hand from the ground up.'' Born in 1888 in Mexico and in 1902 apprenticed with G.S. Garcia in Elko, Nev., 1915 opened shop in Portland, OR, 1927 relocated his shop in 1927 to Los Angeles, CA, floral and leaf motif, Mike used both overlay and inlay, but the majority were overlaid.
