As the story goes, in July, 1910, Sonoma County and Northern California were shocked to learn about a triple murder above Cazadero at Lions Head Ranch. The 27-year-old Yamaguchi, a ranch hand who worked for Enoch Kendall, committed the killings. On or around July 23rd, he killed Enoch, his wife and their son. The bodies were dismembered and parts were found in the home stove and cast about the property.

The Governor of California offered a reward of $500 and the San Francisco Examiner added another $500. Yamaguchi fled to the East Bay and revealed the murders to an acquaintance. After being notified by the acquaintance, the police arrived but Yamaguchi had escaped and was never found.
