Edges of the photograph are worn and there are a few tears on the top of the photograph. Some wear on the matte with age marks. The photo shows the fight with the ring in the middle and several hundreds of people huddle around. It was known as “the great fight of the century” between James J. Jefferies and Jack Johnson. The fight took place in Reno, NV on July 4, 1910. Jefferies was hailed as the “great white hope” by people who used the match as excuses for white superiority. After 15 rounds, Johnson was declared the winner. Years later Jefferies stated “I could have never beaten Johnson even at my best.” 2) newspaper clipping.
