1910 $2 1/2 PR66 NGC. The delicate surfaces are a cons
1910 $2 1/2 PR66 NGC. The delicate surfaces are a consistently lovely greenish-gold throughout both sides of this satiny "Roman gold" Premium Gem proof. Garrett and Guth comment that this issue is far rarer than the anomalous mintage, recorded as 682 pieces, would suggest, and that the figure is either just plain wrong or that about two-thirds of the proof mintage was subsequently melted. Regardless of the truth in the story, in PR66 condition this coin is a definite rarity, with three dozen pieces so fine at NGC and PCGS combined (12/06). Scrutiny with a lens shows the Indian's cheek and the exposed, open fields on either side are distraction-free. A lovely piece, suited for a fine date or type set. Census: 30 in 66, 11 finer (11/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
