1909 World Series Panoramic Photographic Display. The two greatest titans of the Dead Ball era came face to face for the first and only time as Ty Cobb's Detroit Tigers traveled to Forbes Field to visit Honus Wagner's Pittsburgh Pirates for Game One of the sixth World Series on October 8, 1909. Cobb was often quoted to say that Wagner was the one man he couldn't intimidate, and the Bucs would ultimately win this first game as well as the seventh and deciding contest. This fascinating trip back in time provides photographic images of each pennant-winning squad below a spectator's eye view of the game's action from an upper deck vantage point behind home plate, Cobb himself at bat. Originally issued as a supplement to Pittsburgh's Illustrated Weekly, this tremendous (14x39") display piece is one of the few to survive the passing century, and while condition is admittedly imperfect (stains from tape and water, with various tears and paper loss), the overall visual effect is still quite impressive. An appropriately elegant matting and framing job extends the ultimate dimensions to 22x48".

Shipping: Framed - with Glass, Large (view shipping information)
