1909-S VDB 1C MS64 Red PCGS. Victor David Brenner proved to be a troublesome outside artist for the Mint. His initial reverse for the Lincoln cent was too close to an existing European design, and the first version of his "Wheat Ears" reverse had his full name at the bottom. Even the initials that replaced his name proved to be too much, and the design changed yet again; this last change created the one-year VDB subtype, represented here by a Choice 1909-S VDB cent. The glowing surfaces are golden-brass with a hint of orange, suggestive of long-term storage in a roll. The well struck surfaces have few marks, though small carbon flecks and a spot at the upper O of ONE define the grade.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
