<B>1909-S $5 MS64 PCGS.</B></I> Compared to the key-date 1909-O, this San Francisco issue has comparatively little glamour, and in circulated grades, pieces command little, if any, premium over the price of a type coin. Yet in Mint State grades, particularly Choice and better, specialists respect how elusive it is and actively seek appealing examples. The slightly coppery wheat-gold surfaces of this shining near-Gem have splashes of orange in the centers and vibrant luster. Strong detail is the rule, and though the lowest parts of the Indian's necklace are incomplete, the strike is solid elsewhere. A few light, scattered marks on each side define the technical grade, which the eye appeal surpasses.
