Tremendous vintage panoramic photo matted and framed to 22" x 48" for the "Opening Game, World's Championship Series, Forbes Field, October 8th...1909." Originally a Pittsburgh newspaper supplement, celebrates the only meeting ever between Hall of Famers Ty Cobb and Honus Wagner in the first World Series to go the distance. Cobb and Wagner are pictured with their Tigers and Pirates respectively in team photos at the bottom of this fine piece. The lower half of Cobb, pictured at the far lower left, has been lost. Above are three shots that have been melded into one to create a broad vista. Mounted to cardboard, this exceptionally rare piece shows some paper loss on the left corners, staining, small tears and a long vertical tear on the right side.
