<B>1909-D $5 MS65 NGC.</B></I> This is an amazing Gem Mint State example, an exceptional candidate for the date or type collector. The Indian half eagles are all rare in Gem grades, despite the individual status of any given date. For instance, the 1909-D half eagle is considered one of the most common dates in the entire series issued from 1908 through 1929, and yet the population reflects a coin that is hardly considered common. This piece is sharply struck and exhibits excellent pinkish yellow-gold luster. While a few tiny marks keep it from an even higher grade, it is a wonderful representative of the unusual Indian Head design.
