<B>1909/8 $20 MS65 NGC.</B></I> The overdate double eagle, a doubled hub variety, is extremely rare in Gem quality. Most numismatists feel that about 80,000 of these coins were struck. The total double eagle mintage for the year was 161,282 coins at Philadelphia, and nearly identical numbers of overdates and normal dates have been certified by the grading services. This specimen is fully brilliant and highly lustrous with rich orange-gold color that is accented by traces of olive around the borders. Both sides are virtually perfect without any noticeable blemishes.
