1909/8 $20 MS64 PCGS. Current estimates place the number of survivors of the overdate compared with the nonoverdate variant at about 50:50, but that large number does not make the overdate--listed in the Guide Book and hugely popular as the only such variety in the popular Saint-Gaudens series--any less desirable. Created when a mismatch paired up a 1909 hub with an already-hubbed 1908-dated die between annealings, the overdate feature was born. Few specimens are found in MS64; most are MS63 or lower, and in the near-Gem grade the number of PCGS-certified examples drops to the double digits. This lustrous example offers beautiful orange-gold coloration and a few light, grade-consistent abrasions. Population: 77 in 64, 18 finer (12/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
