1909/8 $20 MS63 PCGS. The only overdate variety in the Saint-Gaudens series of double eagles, this variety is interesting to numismatists for that reason. Some controversy has followed the 1909/8 since its discovery by Edgar Adams in 1910, primarily questions about the number produced and the number of survivors relative to the regular 1909 issue. It is now believed that there were about an equal number of overdate and non-overdate coins minted, with a total production of 161,282 pieces. This example is well struck, lustrous, and moderately marked for the grade, with a combination of peach and mint-green color variations.
From The Matt & Susan Brown Family Collection of Saint-Gaudens Double Eagles.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
