1909 $20 MS64 PCGS. This lower mintage issue is divided into two varieties of nearly equal scarcity, the normal date and the 1909/8 overdate. The normal date is surprisingly scarce as a near-Gem, and Gems are sufficiently rare that they are out of reach for most collectors. The present piece is fully struck with unusual detail on the face, Capitol building, and branch hand. Contact marks are also absent, uncommon for a large denomination gold coin. This satiny near-Gem is well worthy of personal examination by the alert bidder.

Coin Engraver: Augustus Saint-Gaudens

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
