1909 1C PR66 Red PCGS. The year 1909 is a transitional one in the U.S. small Cent series. The long-lived Indian design made way for the even longer-lived Lincoln motif, proofs of both types being delivered in the Philadelphia Mint. The 1909 Indian Cent has an original mintage of 2,175 specimen strikings, survivors of which are always in demand among final-year type collectors. Mostly cherry-red in color, both sides boast full mint luster and sharp striking definition. A few swirls of variegated color over Liberty's cheek are noted, these perhaps serving to bar this visually impressive example from an even higher grade. Population: 13 in 66 Red, just two are finer (1/03).From the Colburn Collection. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
