Chase was a star, and many historians feel he was perhaps the best first baseman of the Deadball Era. He was an excellent hitter, hitting .300 or more nine times during his 15-year career, including 1916 when he won the NL batting title with a .339 average. He finished with 2,158 hits over his career, with a lifetime .291 average, which is pretty good for the Deadball days. He was by all accounts the slickest and most mobile first baseman in the game, covering tons of ground and making astonishing plays with regularity. He also made a lot of errors and led the league in this dubious category more than once, which may relate to his exit from the game. Allegations of gambling and throwing games followed Chase throughout his career, intensifying in his later years. Although nothing was ever proven, he was effectively banned from the game after the 1919 “Black” Sox scandal, in which eight members of the Chicago White Sox were thrown out of organized baseball for fixing the World Series. A true Deadball star, with an asterisk.
This one has a scarcer Polar Bear back, and is graded 2 GD by PSA.

The auctioneer may break down or consolidate any lot or lots at his sole discretion.
Galaxy Auctions Canada assumes no responsibility for any liability once a bid is accepted.
Products are sold "as is, where is" and there shall be no warranties or guarantees expressed or implied, statutory or otherwise of any nature.
Catalogue is prepared only as a guide. No sale shall be invalidated by any reason or defect or inaccuracy of description in catalogue or otherwise, and no liability shall be borne by the auctioneers by virtue of any such fault or error.

The winning bidder is not entitled to possession until all items have been paid for in full.
In the event that the purchase prices are not paid within 72 hours (unless email arrangements are made), the auctioneer shall have the right to resell such items in whatever manner he sees fit without notice to the purchaser.
All costs and responsibilities of removal shall be borne by the winner bidder within the time prescribed by the auctioneer.
The winning bidder hereby indemnifies the auctioneer and the vendor against any and all damages arising from the dismantling and removal of any lots.
Any lots not removed within the prescribed time shall be deemed as abandoned. The auctioneer shall have the right to resell or dispose of such items in whatever manner he sees fit without notice to the purchaser.
If for any reason, Galaxy Auctions Canada is unable to deliver any or all of an awarded lot or title thereof, the sole liability of Galaxy Auctions Canada shall be the refund of any monies paid on the lot.
It is the sole responsibility of the winning bidder to pay for their items within the prescribed time.
Galaxy Auctions Canada is not responsible for shipping carrier's lost or damaged items.
Shipping is calculated and included in the initial invoice sent immediately after the auction closes. Credit cards on file will be charged within 24 hours (next day) after the auction closes, unless alternative payment is confirmed prior by email.
