McLean was 6-foot-5 catcher from Canada, who played pro ball from 1901 to 1915. The big Canuck's career was punctuated by drinking problems and violent outbursts, having more than once gone into the stands after hecklers. In 1915 he got into a brawl with his New York Giants manager John McGraw and team scout Dick Kinsella. He was released the same day and never played again. McLean would die six years later after being shot by a bartender in a dispute in a Boston bar. McLean was recognized as one of the first Canadian pro players by the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame, being elected in 2006. Graded 1 PR by PSA.
