Gavvy "Cactus" Cravath was the dead ball era's premier power hitter (with a nod to Frank "Home Run" Baker"). Cravath bounced around until he landed in Philadelphia, where the Phillies played at the Baker Bowl. The park featured a short right field porch (280 ft) and a 60-ft wall (almost 2x higher than Fenway's Green Monster!). During his time at Minneapolis (where he is on this card) he learned to take advantage of a similar short RF fence by hitting to the opposite field. So at age 31, in 1911, he found his niche, leading the NL in HR's 6 times and RBI twice. The totals were almost entirely the result of the park's odd dimensions, as he hit few HR's on the road, nevertheless, he's in the record books. This card is visually strong for the grade (1 PR by PSA) and comes with some baseball history!
