1908-S[$20] MS66 PCGS.
1908-S<$20> MS66 PCGS. The 1908-S Saint-Gaudens originally gained notoriety from its tiny mintage of 22,000 pieces, which ranks second in the regular issue series behind only the 1907 High Relief in terms of numbers produced. While mintage is not always a true indicator of a coin's rarity, there are relatively few survivors of the '08-S and many that remain are circulated to some degree. In Mint State grades the 1908-S has seen its numbers increase over the past 10-12 years after a small, select group of this issue was dispersed. Even after these coins entered the marketplace, the 1908-S Saint remains one of the more challenging issues in the series at the Uncirculated level.
The only other 1908-S in MS66 sold through Heritage Numismatic Auctions was in our 2003 FUN Sale, an NGC MS66 that generated a great deal of excitement and interest, eventually realizing in excess of $30,000. Now, in an even stronger market we offer a similarly certified example. This lovely representative is every bit as nice as the aforementioned coin, and is perhaps not too far removed from an even loftier grade. Nearly flawless surfaces are remarkable for their strength of strike and radiant luster. Overall, a memorable second year Saint in a condition that is unlikely to be improved upon. Population: 7 in 66, 4 finer (7/04).

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Since eBay bids are not shown to us until we open the lot on the floor, we treat those bids just like floor bids. In most cases the floor responds before the eBay bid is presented to us, due to Internet lag time, so for consistency we have made it a policy that floor bids are always considered first over tie eBay live bids. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
