1908-S 1C MS66 Red PCGS. Snow-2. This coin simply should not exist. It is an absolute miracle of preservation as well as manufacture. Over the years, we have seen many 1908-S cents, but we have never seen one with bright, semi-prooflike fields. This flash in the fields is unmistakable, and some might fault us for calling it semi-prooflike rather than fully prooflike. The mint luster is bright and orange-red in color, essentially unchanged in color since Teddy Roosevelt was president and this coin was struck. Softly struck in all the usual places that '08-S cents always are, but this has nothing to do with the value or desirability of this coin. There are many coins in this sale that are worth multiples of what this piece is valued, but few are as extraordinarily well preserved and present as well as this one-of-a-kind 1908-S cent. Also, struck from the Snow-2 die pairing with shallow repunching visible in the lower loop of the 8 in the date.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
