1908-S $10 MS64 PCGS
1908-S $10 MS64 PCGS. The 1908-S is one of the most popular issues in the ten dollar Indian series, primarily because of the impressively low mintage of only 59,850 pieces. Examples are surprisingly available, however, with a number of pieces available even in MS67 and 68 grades. That is not to say it is a common issue in MS64, as only two dozen pieces have been so graded by PCGS, but it was apparently saved in small numbers at the time of issue and several of the better (MS64 and finer) coins come from two small hoards found in Europe.
This piece shows the excellent luster this issue is so well known for--bright and frosted with even yellow-gold color. Sharply defined on the obverse with just a bit of weakness noted on the upper portion of the eagle's wing on the reverse. The only grade-limiting mark is a slight, angling abrasion in the left obverse field. An impressive example of this important and popular early ten Indian.
From The Carlton Woods Collection.

Coin Engraver: Augustus Saint-Gaudens

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information\)
